(SOLD OUT) Electric Earth Concert Series: As Time Goes By
Singer Jazimina MacNeil and pianist Gordon Peery team up for a concert of songs from the American Songbook. Beloved jazz standards and show tunes from the early to mid 1900’s represent a golden age of melody, and continue to be interpreted in many different styles by a wide range of musicians, including many contemporary singers.
The unique flavor of this concert, presented by Electric Earth Concerts, is suggested by the diverse backgrounds of the musicians. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, MacNeil has sung at Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood, the Aspen Music Festival, and Marlboro Music Festival. Locally she has sung with Music on Norway Pond, Electric Earth Concerts, Ashuelot Concerts, and the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. She has also put together creative new programs interspersing classical songs with poetry and original stories.
Peery is best known for his piano accompaniment to fiddle music, both in the context of contra dances and concerts. In this capacity he has played throughout the United States, mainland Europe, and the Shetland Islands, and he once shared the stage with the Irish band The Chieftains at Avery Fisher Hall. In recent years he’s enjoyed diversions into jazz, blues, and rock and roll.
MacNeil’s and Peery’s first collaboration was a program of songs with New Hampshire connections, including material from Elbridge Locke, who composed and sang songs for soldiers during the Civil War. This was presented in the summer of 2018 at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music.
The American Songbook, which includes classics from Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, and others, is a temptation hard to resist. Audiences are delighted by the many ways that the familiar songs can be interpreted.
With the sophistication of art song and the freedom of folk music, the American Songbook is a perfect musical meeting place for MacNeil and Peery, and a treasure trove for all.
Showtimes are at 4pm with dinner available after from Aldworth Manor.

Putting a fresh spin on traditional Celtic music, the Jordan TW Trio delivers a dynamic show full of lively fiddle tunes and classic Irish songs. Fiddler/singer Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki is joined by fellow New Hampshire natives Matt Jensen on guitar and Chris Noyes on upright bass. Their shows blend the music of Ireland and Scotland with their own original material, drawing on multiple genres to produce a unique sound that has been described as “larger-than-life” and “brisk, lean and exceedingly lovely.” In 2013 Jordan was awarded the title of “Master Artist” by the NH State Council On The Arts, and later named “Best Fiddler 2016” by NH Magazine. He composed the new Emmy-nominated theme music for New Hampshire Chronicle, and the Trio formed the core band that recorded it. They have appeared live on NHPR’s “The Folk Show,” provided music for projects ranging from holiday variety shows to TED Talks, and their albums can be heard on radio stations around the British Isles as well as here in New England. They perform regularly at listening rooms, concert halls, private events and festivals. Tour dates and more info at www.JordanTWmusic.com
